Walsall Housing Group (whg) is one of the largest and most successful providers of high quality housing in the West Midlands. Owning and managing around 19,000 properties across Walsall, whg provides affordable, good quality homes and community-based services to the local community. This makes whg a significant employer in the region which, in turn, places sizeable and growing demands on the HR team and its processes.

After eight years of making use of an HR system that never quite met our specific needs, it was time for something better at whg. So, at the beginning of 2011, with a new Head of People and Learning on board, whg reviewed the systems available and shortlisted just two providers to compare head to head.

City College Birmingham's decision to move to the CIPHR range of HR Software and HR Systems was based on the background, history and pedigree of Computers In Personnel, whose software has been in use at City College since 2003.   • King's Lynn Borough Council

King's Lynn Borough Council began a restructuring of their HR & Payroll operations late in 2006. At that time, the two functions were operating as separate parts of the Council - both relying on ageing in-house applications. After carrying out an efficiency review, the decision to merge the two was made in order to reduce overlapping workloads, but while HR remained in-house running a new software application, payroll processing was outsourced to Bedford Borough Council.
